Why choose Killour Star?
Why choose Killour Star?
Conformation, Quality, Substance and an abundance of ability, Star is beautifully put together with a fabulous length of rein, depth of girth, strength behind and an incredible mass of bone measuring 9 1/2". But this boy is more than a pretty face, he has a bold, neat technique over a fence and is proving every bit of him suitable for a child or an adult under saddle. He is quite a few seasons into breeding now and it is really apparent that he is improving limbs and quality in his offspring. There is a high demand for his offspring so if you are breeding to sell, you are already half way there with such a proven and sought after sire.
Its all in the genes
Colour genetically Star is AA EE Cr which translates to Bay with one copy of the Crème gene, the correct term is Buckskin but to some his colour is known as Dun. There is a 50% chance that Star will pass on the creme gene to his offspring and he cannot breed chestnut, black or smokey black. He is also N/N (negative) for PSSM1
Career
Starting as he means to go on Star was a Champion Foal. On his first outing in the UK he was supreme champion in exceptional company including approved stallions. On his 2nd outing he was reserve supreme with exceptional comments from panel judges commenting especially on his bone and length of rein. As an approved stallion in the sports pony studbook his potential to influence FEI level competition has already been recognised, he was awarded 9/10 for his jumping technique and his over all review was “a willing young stallion with lots of potential for the future”
I am sure you can see from the many pictures of him that he has trained hard for a career in Eventing - Covid had a huge effect on the beginning of his competitive ridden career, just ready to go the world ground to a halt. Back up and running and straight into his first competitive season he had some fabulous runs with double clears, placings and qualifications for championship events in 2022 and we hope to get him out running again in 2023.
Breeding
His Sire Dooneen Supermatch is by the legendary Frederiksminde Hazy Match, who has a record number of graded Class one Stallions on the ground, His stock are well represented for having good conformation, extravagant movement and true performance.
